Drrao asked:

The skin cancer is mainly caused due to the exposure of your skin to the ultra violent sun rays. This cancer goes deeper into the skin and takes years to cure it.

The sunburn which happens will fade but that damage the deeper layer of the skin which eventually turns into skin cancer. The sunshine makes us to feel good but it the ultra violent radiations may causes risk to the skin. We are more exposed to sun during our childhood and this cancer may occur to us before the age of 18. So it is need to have sun safe habits which begins in the childhood and lasts up to the final breath. As the ultra violet rays causes premature aging, eye damaging, greater risk of skin cancer and many other factors also.

Now days the teens are getting attracted to many beauty products to look themselves more beautiful and attractive. But they are unknown that these products are worth at the cancer risk. Many think that this cancer occurs only to the people of elderly age not to the teenagers. This skin cancer has become a serious problem as every year the number of cases is increasing and many people are getting diagnosed with this cancer.

Skin cancer can be cured when it is found in the early stage. But it should be treated by a physician and the precautions are to be followed for its cure. So we should be careful enough and take care of our skin than to suffer when it is attacked.

The skin cancer is classified into three types. They are:

basal cell carcinomas

squamous cell

malignant melanoma

The first two cancers are not at high risk and they can be treated at its initial stage as they are slow growing cancers. But the malignant melanoma cancer is the one which is dangerous as it grows faster and spreads very quickly.

The people who are at risk are the fair skin people, with light eyes, red hair, lots of moles or freckles. The people who have a family history of skin cancer and also who are more exposed to the ultra violent rays of the sun in younger age are at higher risk of skin cancer. The main cause for this cancer is the exposure of the skin more to the ultraviolet radiations. These ultra violet radiations which in short called as UV rays damage the DNA it also causes sunburn and sun tan on the skin. When this sunburn happens then the skin looks prematurely old and wrinkled. So, to protect from the UV rays of the sun you must cultivate the habit of wearing sunglasses, hats or clothing with the habit of having sunscreen lotion. This can control and safe treated by natural and herbal supplements

This skin cancer can cause to any one but the person who is above fifty with fair skin is more at the risk. It also can cause to the younger or the dark skinned people who are more exposed to the UV rays of the sun are at higher risk of getting this cancer. This cancer takes the form of a sore or pimple that does not heal. It is a cancer which is usually painless. The indications of this cancer are new growth on the skin, change in existing skin growth and a sore that does not heal. But the changes cannot be called as the symptom for skin cancer. So, we can have the self examine of this skin cancer, that is after a shower or bath to check the skin in front of a full length mirror in a well lighted room and see check the skin. Other than the birth marks, moles on our body we have to check that are there any other new marks on the body and is there any change in their growth, size, colour and also should observe whether it is itching, scaliness, bleeding, tenderness or pain.

This cancer survival rate is five years that is if the person is diagnosed for the first time after the survival of the skin cancer. It also depends on the factors that include the early diagnosing of the disease makes the cure of the skin cancer effectively treated. It is an urge need to know the signs and symptoms of the skin cancer as the factors of its occurring are more and this is more developing in the recent years.

People who are treated with skin cancer should have a regular follow up visits to check the tumor site and make sure that the cancer may not come back in the same place or its reoccurrence. If it is found then the additional treatment is needed. They should be regular medical checkups, examine their skin regularly and take the sun exposure precautions.

Preventing the skin cancer is preferable than treating it. So this treatment of the skin cancer depends on some of the reasons that are the thickness of the cancer, level of the cancer, your age and general health and other aspects. So it is an urge need that you must take care of your skin by preventing it from the UV rays and having frequent check to prevent it by using the medications which increases the sensitivity to sunlight and reduces the greater risk for sunburn.

If you are not satisfied with the treatments that you have got till now and you are fed up with them. Then here is a line of attack that makes you to find a new life with the herbal treatments given by our specialist with no side effects. Have a look over it and try it for fast curative and get exonerate of it.

How to Prevent Skin Cancer

Sharon Bell asked:

Summer is a time for swimming, outings, picnics, and fun. But it’s also the best time to get a bad sunburn or worse, skin cancer if you’re not careful.

Adequate sunlight helps your body make vitamin D but too much can kill you. Aside from premature aging, wrinkles and cataracts, long-term exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays causes skin cells to grow abnormally and develop into a tumor that can be cancerous.

In the United States alone, more than one million new skin cancer cases are diagnosed yearly and one in five Americans will develop some form of skin cancer during their lifetime, according to the American Melanoma Foundation. Melanoma is the second most common cancer in American women aged 20 to 29 and it kills one person every hour.

At risk are those who spend too much time under the sun like laborers, farmers, sailors as well as those undergoing military training, scouts, campers, athletes, sunbathers and swimmers.

Others who need adequate sun protection are the elderly who have thin skin and are more vulnerable to the sun’s deadly rays, babies with delicate skin that burns easily, those taking drugs like diuretics, tranquilizers and antibiotics, and those applying astringents.

Fair-skinned individuals are more likely to develop malignant melanoma but that’s no reason for those with brown skin to rejoice. While people with darker skin have more melanin pigment which protects them from burning, experts said melanin-rich complexions are not immune from the sun’s harmful rays. The longer you stay under the sun, the greater your risk of getting skin cancer regardless of the color of your skin.

To protect yourself, here are some practical tips:

Be like a vampire. No, don’t sleep in a coffin but avoid going out between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. when the sun is strongest.

Wear sunglasses, a wide-brimmed hat, preferably one made of canvass, and don’t forget your umbrella. Long-sleeves and long pants are fine provided they’re made of a tightly woven material which blocks sunlight.

Use a good sunscreen to effectively block out the sun’s rays and help you enjoy the great outdoors. If you have sun-sensitive skin or stay under the sun all day, a high SPF (sun protection factor) value will protect you from the sun’s harmful rays.

For best results, apply the product evenly on all exposed skin 15 to 20 minutes before going outside. Have someone rub it on your back and don’t forget sensitive areas like the nose, ears, shoulders, and tops of feet. Reapply every 2 hours or more often after exercising or swimming.

To complement your sun protection regimen, use Lumnaderm, a whitening cream that eliminates freckles, unsightly age spots, sun spots, blemishes and hyperpigmentation. When used as directed, Lumnaderm will balance uneven skin tones and illuminate your skin. For more information, visit http://www.lumnaderm.com.

Skin Cancer Slowed With Skin Treatments

Laurence Magne asked:

From the desk of Dr. Magne, author of Cancer Free For Life

Acid skin peel, and laser resurfacing, all remove precancerous skin growths and slow skin cancer — but patients prefer the peel.

Precancerous growths, which are small areas of discrete roughness to the skin, come from too much sun. Particularly when a person has a lot of them, they tend to become squamous cell carcinomas: skin cancer.

Doctors often burn off these growths, called actinic keratoses, with liquid nitrogen. But there’s evidence of other ways of removing them work at least as well, and they slow the development of skin cancer.

These techniques were compared in 24 men. The patients had an average age of 73; all but three had previously had skin cancers removed. Five similar patients served as an untreated comparison group.

Before treatment, the 24 men had dozens of precancerous ****** growths. The researchers treated the men with laser resurfacing, or an acid skin peel. All treatments worked, reducing the number of precancerous skin growths 89% for the skin peel, and 92% for the laser. The treatments also seemed to slow the development of new skin cancers.

Left untreated, the patients would be expected to develop 1.7 new ****** skin cancers a year. That’s close to what happened in the untreated comparison group. But the treated patients had only 0.04 to 0.22 new skin cancers per year.

In the acid peel arm, one cancer per 26.1 years would be expected, compared with 1 cancer per 6.79 and 4.77 years in the laser arms. The untreated comparison group had 1.57 new cancers per year: that is, one new cancer every eight months. The patients who got the acid peel were much more compliant with treatment, and had fewer side effects than those treated with laser.

Repeated treatments may be needed. In any case, patients with precancerous ****** growths must get careful follow-up care. Because the study had several limitations — including its small size, infrequent use of sunscreen, and a control group that was not randomly picked — the researchers warn that their findings must be confirmed in larger studies.

Still, of interest is to note that there are alternative treatments to skin cancer, and even though reasonably invasive, they show fewer long-term side effects than the traditional approaches of chemotherapy or burning. Sun-kissed Skin During Pregnancy

Sunday 10 May 2009 @ 9:37 pm

Tabatha Jones asked:

We all love it! If you’re not feeling attractive during pregnancy, the look of sun-kissed skin may do wonders for your self-esteem. A tan can make appearances of unsightly blemishes seem fewer and give you a healthy looking glow. I am very big on a woman feeling good about herself during her pregnancy BUT not however at the cost of her baby. This article will give you more information on tanning in a bed, outdoors, or with lotions and the effects it can have on you and even your baby.

Tanning Beds:
There is some controversy on the subject of tanning salons and their use during pregnancy. Many physicians recommend not using them and are against any activity that raises your body temperature. Lying in a tanning bed can raise your body temperature to a level that may be hazardous to your baby and is associated with spinal malformations, particularly during your first trimester. There has also been an ongoing observation about what may be a connection between neural tube defects and ultraviolet radiation.

As of now, no conclusive evidence shows that tanning beds are harmful to a developing fetus, but there’s plenty of proof that they’re dangerous to you. Whether you’re with child or not, tanning beds definitely put you at risk for premature signs of aging and possible skin cancer. One study suggests that visiting a tanning booth ten times in a year can double your chances of developing melanoma — one of the most deadly types of cancer.

Although you are trying to look better you can actually make things worse. During pregnancy, levels of elaborates hormone are higher in the body, making your skin more prone to burning and chloasma - sometimes known as a pregnancy mask, those dark splotches that can appear on the face and occasionally the arms during pregnancy.

One good thing to know is many municipalities and other local governments have passed laws against tanning while you are with child. While you may or may not agree with them, you should be aware of them. Many tanning salons also will not take clients who are pregnant, for liability reasons.

Outdoors:
Many of the concerns about outdoor tanning are the same as tanning beds. As tanning beds, exposure to the sun puts you at risk for premature aging and skin cancer. As skin is much more sensitive to heat during pregnancy, the sun can cause such unpleasant side effects as sun burn, hives, heat rash, and chloasma. Lying in the hot sun for hours can increases your risk of overheating and dehydration - neither of which are good for you or your baby.

Lotions:
This may be the best option if you are pregnant. Avoiding UV rays will ensure healthier skin and less chance of skin cancer, burns, hives or chloasma. The only concern is whether the ingredient, dihydroxyacetone (DHA), is able to penetrate the skin. Studies do not confirm that it can, but some health care providers encourage women to wait until after the first trimester, just to play it safe.

There are so many different kinds of sunless tanning lotions, creams, and foams that have very good results. Many have minimal odor and provide immediate color. Even if you have used sunless tanners before, try a patch of skin first since your skin may be more sensitive during pregnancy.

Lastly, you should consult with your physician before tanning, whether it is in a tanning bed or in the sun. Your physician may be able to identify concerns that are specific to you pregnancy. Also, drink plenty of water, use a sunscreen with SPF 30 or more, and wear a hat and shades.

Signs of Skin Cancer - Finding the Threat

Adam Hefner asked:

Skin cancer is the most frequently diagnosed malignancy in the world’s population. Leading researchers theorize that nearly every case of skin cancer is curable if it is detected early enough. For this reason, learning about signs of skin cancer can literally save your life!

The signs of skin cancer can be described by a popular alphabetical mnemonic, or memory trick. Commonly known as the ABCs of skin cancer, each letter indicates a certain characteristic of those skin sores, or lesions, which may be cancerous. For example, “A” refers to asymmetry, because cancerous skin lesions are often irregularly shaped.

The second sign of a cancerous lesion, designated as “B,” is a reminder that skin cancers, unlike normal moles or other skin tumors, often lack clearly defined borders. “C” stands for color, because cancer sores are often red, blue, white, or black in appearance, and look very different from benign skin growths.

The diameter, or size of the skin lesion, is described by “D,” and reminds people that growths that are greater than a quarter of an inch in size should be evaluated by a medical professional. The final letter in the mnemonic is “E,” which refers to elevation. Skin cancers are often raised above the surface of the skin, and have an uneven surface.

Other signs that characterize this type of cancer include the presence of sores that do not heal. These sores may begin to bleed or drain yellowish fluid for a time, then scab over and appear as though they are healing. They do not heal, however, but begin to drain and then scab over again.

Occasionally, cancerous tumors may grow from a mole or freckle. More often, however, these tumors appear as new growths on the surface of the skin. The presence of a new growth that can be described by any of the letters described above is a red flag; persons who discover these growths on their body should see a physician as soon as possible.

Although it is somewhat unusual, these sores may sometimes be painful or tender. Occasionally, they can itch. Most often, however, they do not cause tenderness or itching.

If you are an individual with fair or freckled skin, or if you frequently experience prolonged exposure to sunlight, or if anyone in your family has ever had skin cancer, be aware of these signs of skin cancer. Identifying a sore that may be skin cancer in its early stage may save your life!
